INTRO TO SHIBORI DYEING
Spend a creative afternoon exploring the beautiful and wonderfully unpredictable art of Shibori. We’ll learn two different resist-dyeing techniques, practicing each on a set of four cotton napkins and choosing from six beautiful dye colors.
This relaxed, three-hour workshop takes place in a shady Los Angeles backyard, with snacks, wine and sparkling water, plenty of conversation, color and creative play. No experience necessary—just come ready to experiment and embrace the surprise of the reveal!

INTRO TO ICE DYEING
Spend a colorful afternoon exploring the wonderfully unpredictable art of ice dyeing. Using ice and fiber-reactive dyes, we’ll experiment with color placement and blending to create beautifully organic, one-of-a-kind patterns on two cotton tea towels. As the ice slowly melts, the dyes shift, mingle and separate in surprising ways—part of the magic is seeing what emerges!
This relaxed, three-hour workshop takes place in a shady backyard in Northeast Los Angeles, with wine, sparkling water, snacks, conversation and plenty of creative play. No experience necessary—just come ready to experiment with color and embrace the unexpected.

Embrace the Unexpected
Shibori is a resist-dyeing process that blends intention with surprise. While you'll learn techniques to influence the final pattern, every piece develops its own unique character. The beauty of shibori lies in its unpredictability, and no two textiles are ever alike.
Rather than striving for perfection or an exact outcome, we invite you to embrace the creative process and celebrate the one-of-a-kind piece that emerges. Every participant leaves with textiles that are uniquely their own.
Workshop Size
To provide a thoughtful and personalized experience, workshops are limited to eight participants.
Cancellations
Due to the small class size and the advance preparation of materials, workshop registrations are only refundable within 7 days of the workshop. Otherwise, if you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person with some advanced notice.
Clothing
Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Dye can permanently stain fabric… please wear clothing that you might get some (fun) color on!
Photography
Photos may be taken during the workshop for future promotional materials. If you prefer not to appear in photographs, simply let me know when you arrive.
Creative Process
Every shibori piece is one of a kind. While techniques are demonstrated and guidance is provided throughout the workshop, the final patterns cannot be guaranteed or replicated exactly. Variations are an essential part of the dyeing process and are what make each textile unique.
